Capers top X-Women in AUS soccer action

Sydney, NS – The Cape Breton Capers earned a 3-0 shutout victory over the StFX X-Women Wednesday night in AUS women's soccer action.

AUS leading scorer Karolyne Blain added to her season goal tally scoring two goals to give her 14 atop the conference stats.

Blain scored the first Capers goal just four minutes into the game then followed up with another strike in the 24th minute.

The Capers led the X-Women 2-0 at halftime.

The only scoring in the second half came from Paula Serracin late in the game in the 88th minute to give the Capers the 3-0 victory.

Tiffany O'Donnell earned the win in nets with two saves was Erin Visser (six saves) was tagged with the loss for the X-Women.

With the victory the Capers claimed a playoff berth in the AUS championship, improving to 6-4-2 on the season. The X-Women drop to 3-4-5, out of playoff contention.

They will wrap up AUS regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 25th in Halifax as they will face the Dalhousie Tigers. Game time is 1:00 pm. Cape Breton hosts UPEI on Sunday, also at 1:00.
