MONTREAL (CIS) - The 2014 Canadian Interuniversity Sport football all-stars were announced on Thursday evening during the Sun Life Financial All-Canadian Banquet.
MONTREAL (CIS) – Andrew Buckley, a fourth-year quarterback from the University of Calgary, received the prestigious Hec Crighton Trophy as the outstanding player in CIS football, on Thursday evening.
MONTREAL - During the 50th TELUS Vanier Cup, the Montreal Alouettes will honour and recognize the career of former player Michael Soles. Montreal's one-time number 22 has been named co-President of honour for the national Canadian University championship being held in Montreal for the very first time in its storied history. The matchup will pit the Université de Montréal Carabins against the McMaster University Marauders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Former Governor General of Canada Adrienne Clarkson has also been named co-President of honour.

TORONTO (CIS) – The University of Toronto Varsity Blues opened their CIS-title run with a convincing 3-0 victory over the three-time defending champion UBC Thunderbirds on Day 1 of the CIS-FHC field hockey championship at Back Campus Fields.
In Vanier Cup VIII, the Alberta Golden Bears defeated Waterloo Lutheran Golden Hawks 20-7 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto to capture the program’s second national title, and avenge a heartbreaking 15-14 loss to Western Ontario in the 1971 CIAU final. One of the key plays of the 1972 game came late in the third quarter, with Alberta holding on to a 12-0 lead. Playing despite a broken bone in his wrist, team captain Dale Schulha threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Gary Weisbrot on a fake field goal attempt to give the Bears some breathing room.
In Vanier Cup II, freshman quarterback Terry Dolan completed 12 of 19 passes for 282 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. His 4 TD passes are still tied for most in the game’s history. StFX jumped out to a commanding 27-0 lead midway through the second quarter and never looked back en route to a 40-14 win over Waterloo Lutheran at Varsity Stadium in Toronto.
