Wickenheiser, a fourth-year kinesiology student from Shaunavon, Sask., played a key role in a pair of road wins over nationally seventh-ranked UBC (8-4-4) which allowed the No. 10 Dinos to complete the fall semester with a solid 9-3-4 record. The four-time Olympic gold medallist opened the Friday-Saturday doubleheader with a three-assist performance in a 4-3 overtime decision, including her third helper of the evening on the game-winner. The following night, the former Team Canada captain scored her fourth goal of the season with 5:28 remaining in the contest to lift Calgary to a 2-1 victory.
UPEI hockey player Samantha Sweet and UQAM basketball player Jessica Lubin were also nominated for the women’s award.
